#MedSpeaks : Devilish' Animation Mod

Med speaks on Devilish' self-titled next-gen animation mod released in the NLSC community.

Regarding Devilish' mod for animations, there have been multiple reports of edited/stolen work, such as editing [CAM]'s HD Global, gamez' animation pack, causing crashing and viruses with PCs (one of our trusted contributors to Med's NBA Roster, J-Paul, the animation director for the roster caught a virus after downloading the mod and forced him to reformat his laptop). A lot of veteran modders have already gone against it such as skoadam (URB director), as well as trusted contributors such as Seushir0 (Kuroko V Slam Dunk cyberface modder) and monzki15 (multiple mod cyberface modder) who experienced NBA 2K14 errors as well.

With all of that said, the administrator of NLSC, Andrew, has approved the request to lock the thread. What does that say about the mod? While not here to bash on his work, we all feel that we are left in a void regarding any progress on editing animations after gamez left. Definitely, we felt that Devilish was the person that the torch was passed on to, and we wanted to believe it as much as we can. We wanted to see things we thought couldn't be done because of his animation mods, but overall it caused too many problems that even respectable members of the community were not supportive of it.

One thing about the mod is Devilish' inexperience regarding files such as the TURK, bringing it up despite not actually knowing what it does for RED MC and roster editing, that it changes animations assigned to players in a roster, not changing the animations itself, as proven by Seushir0. We are not here to ruin his image, but we are here to warn everyone that it's important to download from only trusted sources because I have personally received many reports regarding the crashing for NBA 2K14 after downloading this. It was clearly a big question mark how he could import layups and celebration animations from NBA 2K16 without being able to import jump shot animations. We all want him to progress with his mod, but if it is at the cost of the functionality of our NBA 2K14, I'll gladly pass on it.

I do recommend everyone to read the thread on NLSC completely, see how it started and how it went down. Devilish personally states that he's not blowing smoke (claiming something but has nothing), and he wishes all of you to personally test the mods for yourselves and try it out. While I am not against that, it's completely up to you what you want to use (remember I was never against using gamez' animation mod despite other people using it and me personally never using it at all). Just remember the golden rule of downloading mods, ALWAYS BACKUP. Again, there's nothing wrong with downloading it if you are curious to see what it's all about, or even if you want to fully use it for your NBA 2K14 experience and this post is not meant to fire shots at Devilish himself. I have the utmost respect for anyone trying to make something new for NBA 2K14. Just be careful with what you download, always read the comments first, and remember to backup your files.

Med's NBA Roster v3.6 & Universal Portrait Project v3.1 Released

We've collaborated with both tutsyroll and maximize10 of Double-A Mods to bring the 2015 Christmas Jerseys to ALL 30 NBA teams for the new update of Med's NBA Roster for NBA 2K14! We've also updated all of the crazy transactions in the first month of the year, which includes not just player changes, but also coaching changes. We've also updated the rotations, accessories, ratings and animations as usual for your basic roster update.

2015 Christmas Jerseys for All 30 NBA Teams

Previous updates for Med's NBA Roster included the 2015 Christmas Jerseys for the 10 teams that played on Christmas day. However, since the NBA released the official designs of the Christmas Jerseys supposedly for all 30 teams, both NBA Live 16 and NBA 2K16 incorporated these designs into their game updates, which shouldn't stop NBA 2K14 users to experience the same thing. Normally, we like to avoid fictional additions to the series of mods unless there is something special about it, but the NBA itself has official designs for these jerseys so they aren't entirely fictional. Together with both tutsyroll and maximize10 of Double-A Mods, we bring you the all of the 2015 Christmas Jerseys for the remaining 20 teams that did not play on Christmas day.

Coaching Changes

The Brooklyn Nets have fired Head Coach Lionel Hollins and replaced him with Tony Brown, while the Cleveland Cavaliers surprisingly fired Head Coach David Blatt, who was leading the Cavaliers to the best record in the East this season. allowing former Assistant Coach Tyronn Lue to step up as Head Coach. This new roster update also welcomes back Steve Kerr as Head Coach for the Golden State Warriors, with Luke Walton stepping back down to Assistant Coach.

Player Transactions

In the very first month of the new year, 2016 starts with a lot of player signings and waives. The Philadelphia 76ers waive Christian Wood to make room for veteran Elton Brand, who is expected to return to the NBA for a mentor-like role for the very young team. New players J.J. O'Brien, and Keith Appling were added to the roster with O'Brien added to the Free Agents and Appling signed by the Orlando Magic. Many free agents have returned to the NBA such as Lorenzo Brown and Cory Jefferson to the Phoenix Suns with Bryce Cotton being waived to make room, Bryce Dejean-Jones to the New Orleans Pelicans and Sean Kilpatrick to the Denver Nuggets. The Houston Rockets have "re-acquired" Josh Smith from the Los Angeles Clippers via trade while the Orlando Magic waive Joe Harris after being traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Universal Portrait Project Update

The Universal Portrait Project has also been updated from v3.0b to v3.1 . This update features the new portraits for the new coaches to be added in FIBA 2K14 v4.2, as well as the portraits for the new players added to the NBA roster update, namely J.J. O'Brien, Bryce Dejean-Jones and Keith Appling as well as updating the portrait for Tyronn Lue. A few imports for the next version of PBA 2K14, which will be PBA 2K14 v10 also have portraits added to the update, namely M.J. Rhett of the Blackwater Elite, Augustus Gilchrist of the Mahindra Enforcer and Tyler Wilkerson of the San Miguel Beermen.

Universal Cyberface ID List Update

The Universal Cyberface ID List on the NLSC has been updated to include the missing player CF IDs for Med's NBA Roster. This is thanks to those that spent the time reporting which players were missing. We've fully included the CF IDs for FIBA 2K14 & PBA 2K14 players as well. If there are still any missing CF IDs for players, please report it so we can update the list frequently. Thank you!

Universal CF ID List

Future Updates

Despite my projections for NBA roster updates to become, sort of, monthly updates to be able to invest more time updating the other mods of the series, such as FIBA 2K14, PBA 2K14 and Kuroko V Slam Dunk, and even updating the Universal Portrait Project, we've decided to release a second roster update within this month of January. The next update will hopefully feature the 2016 NBA All-Star game updates, with the All-Star Teams (East & West All-Stars) along with the All-Star court (Toronto's Air Canada Centre) being update. Hopefully, the next roster update which features the All-Star Game Update in February will coincide with the Trade Deadline update.

The FIBA 2K14 v4.2 update which features updates for Iran, Italy and the introduction of the projected 2016 rosters for the Philippines, Spain, and USA is currently two cyberfaces away from being released. PBA 2K14 v10 will feature updated imports for the 2016 PBA Commissioner's Cup updates. The logos for ALL of the mods from the Medevenx series, Med's NBA Roster, FIBA 2K14, PBA 2K14 & Kuroko V Slam Dunk will receive logos file updates to accommodate the newly added logo for the Phoenix Fuel Masters of the PBA to the logos.

#MedSpeaks : Mods for Sale

Med speaks on mods that are not released for free.

Hi everyone, as you may have noticed, there has been an increase in the number of modders selling their mods for profit. Some of you may have purchased from these modders, some of you most probably have not. There have been modders in the past that did not stand by the word regarding the purchased goods/services. But this is not about that. This is about the legitimate modders that complete their work, and sell them.

Now, one of the most basic rules of modding is that you can only release your work for free because you do not own the rights to the files you are creating unless it is a completely original idea, concept and design. For example, if you made a Stephen Curry cyberface, you can't sell that because you don't own the rights to use Stephen Curry's looks & imagery. Asking for a price for a personal cyberface is different, since it is more of a service instead of a product. While I am not totally for putting a price a personal cyberface, hard work is spent on these kinds of services and small things such as paying them cellphone load is more of a small "thank you" gesture, rather than an actual payment.

As for modders that sell their mods (will not name anyone specifically), I very much recommend that users and downloaders refrain from purchasing these mods. Your money, is more valuable than what you are going to spend it on. Right now, they may be the only high quality mods that are going around, but you'll never know when a new excellent modder will come and suddenly start releasing similar quality mods (if not better) for free.

Donations and going through advertisements are our best way of showing gratitude to modders especially when we don't have to pay. These modders who spend literally hundreds of hours (heck, maybe even thousands for the veterans) photoshopping, editing, typing, uploading, posting deserve a break sometimes. When it comes to money and modding, these two don't generally mix, but modders who create new content for the game, release for free to genuinely improve the user's experience with the game would rather receive genuine gratitude through donations rather than making a quick buck.

Don't buy mods from those that sell their mods. Those who only show previews and very rarely release are not genuine modders. They do it for the "internet fame" or "power", the money, the satisfaction of showing others that they have something that everyone wants. Don't patronize these fake modders. The true modders won't go away if you give them a reason to stay.

Kuroko V Slam Dunk: Kanagawa Preview - Shoyo Trailer

Another team trailer is released for Kuroko V Slam Dunk's Kanagawa Update which is revealed today to be Shoyo High, rival to Kainan, led by playing coach Kenji Fujima.

Shoyo High YouTube Video Trailer

Shoyo, the team with four players over 190 cm in height, specializing in defense will be part of the next update for Kuroko V Slam Dunk. Led by playing coach Kenji Fujima, who will act as coach and as a player in Kuroko V Slam Dunk (you will see two Fujimas because of this, similar to Makoto Hanamiya's situation for Kirisaki Dai Ichi. Kenji Fujima in the first roster comes off the bench, in a similar fashion in the anime where he did not start the game. However, in the second and third rosters he starts with the team since at this point, Shoyo was no longer playing in the anime. The video is once again by me.

Shoyo's Cyberfaces by KoroX

All of the cyberfaces of Shoyo's players are made by KoroX. The update for Kuroko V Slam Dunk is expected to be released as soon as all cyberfaces for the five teams to added are completed. Kuroko V Slam Dunk: Kanagawa Update is not considered to be part of Phase Three (which ends with FIBA 2K14 v4.2, hopefully to be released this week), but is considered part of a new phase of updates dedicated to bringing the best NBA 2K14 experience to you, this year in 2016. Obviously, at this point, the next trailer to be shown this weekend will be for Kainan as KoroX already has enough progress on the cyberfaces.

Kuroko V Slam Dunk: Kanagawa Preview - Ryonan Trailer

With the very successful release of the Winter Cup Beta for Kuroko V Slam Dunk, progress on the Kanagawa update has begun. The next update for Kuroko V Slam Dunk will hopefully feature five new teams from Kanagawa of the Slam Dunk franchise, one of which is revealed today to be Shohoku's main rival in the anime, Ryonan High led by Akira Sendoh.

Ryonan High YouTube Video Trailer

Kuroko V Slam Dunk's cyberface modders KoroX & Seushir0 have begun on the cyberfaces for the five teams to be added to the next update. The jerseys have already been finished, with the warmup jackets remaining to be done. There is still no progress with stadiums for Kuroko V Slam Dunk, but the next update will feature the five teams from Kanagawa, based on the District Tournament (Interhigh Qualifiers) in the Kanagawa district. The Kanagawa District Interhigh Qualifying Tournament is the primary focus of the plot in the Slam Dunk anime, while the continuation of the manga is based on the Interhigh Tournament itself. Like the anime, Fukuda will not be available in the first roster as he was still suspended up to that point in the anime. In the second roster, Sendoh's primary position in Kuroko V Slam Dunk is PG (Point Guard) as he matched up against Maki during this time. In the third roster, he is back to his natural playing position of SF (Small Forward). The video is made by me, captured with Fraps at 30 FPS (frames per second) and images created using Adobe Photoshop CS4. The video is edited using Sony Vegas Pro 13.0.

Ryonan's Cyberfaces by KoroX

All of the cyberfaces of Ryonan's players are made by KoroX.

PBA 2K14 v9.1 Released

The long-awaited PBA 2K14 update has finally arrived! As expected, here is the new semi-major update which features your basic roster updates and newly added teams, updated cyberfaces, stadiums, jerseys, and scoreboard, as well as a new court and song added to the soundtrack. Make sure you fully read the blog post to learn how to download the new update!

Updated Roster & Cyberfaces

Your basic roster updates are present in this semi-major update which features updated ratings, tendencies, rotations of every team based on their last official box score, accessories, positions, and transactions. This adds the transaction where the Barako Bull Energy acquire Rodney Brondial and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel acquire Jervy Cruz. Michael DiGregorio, who just signed a 2-year contract with the Mahindra Enforcer has also been added to the roster. A total of 65 cyberfaces have been added to the update, which features new cyberfaces for players like Gabe Norwood, Asi Taulava, etc.

Gilas Pilipinas 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0 & Old Rosters

Other than your basic roster update, we have decided to add the Gilas Pilipinas 2.0 lineup (2014 FIBA World Cup), the Gilas Pilipinas 3.0 lineup (2015 FIBA Asia Championship) and the Gilas Pilipinas 4.0 lineup (2016 Basketball Olympics in Rio Qualifying Tournament). We've also decided to add the old 2015-2016 PBA rosters which are compatible with the current rosters in an Ultimate Base Roster-style fashion for those who wish to play the old rosters. The rosters will now be dubbed as:

PBA 2016 Phil Cup
PBA 2015 Govs Cup
PBA 2015 Comm Cup
PBA 2015 Phil Cup

The Fictional Home Court rosters, however, will only be available for the PBA 2016 Phil Cup rosters as there are multiple re-brands and team name changes in the past that the fictional home courts for the current rosters would not be compatible with the old rosters.

Updated Jerseys & Warmup Jackets

All of the 12 PBA teams now have updated warmup jackets which are based on what the players wore during the PBA Season Opening Ceremony back on October 21, 2015. Jerseys are also updated for the NLEX Road Warriors (corrected back design), TNT Tropang Texters (corrected logo), and the Meralco Bolts (corrected orange jersey color). Jersey Numbers & Name Fonts were also updated for the Alaska Aces, San Miguel Beermen, Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters & Mahindra Enforcer thanks to Jhonel Pangan of Jhonel Designs. All of the 8 UAAP teams now also have updated jerseys thanks to RMR17 & his brother of Sandbox Mods.

Updated Stadiums & Al Wasl Sports Club

PBA 2K14 v9.1 fixes the dorna system for PBA 2K14 that makes it fully compatible with your NBA 2K14 rosters. We now encourage you to backup your dorna000, dorna001, and dorna006 if you were ever experiencing crashing with your NBA rosters during home games at the Los Angeles Clippers & Milwaukee Bucks' home courts. The new stadium for the Smart Araneta Coliseum & polished by both Mythbuster & Medevenx fixes this issue, and also fixes any "freezing" during the loading session. The Smart Araneta Coliseum & Mall of Asia Arena's stanchions (backboards) have also received updates from Mythbuster. Medevenx however has added the Al Wasl Sports Club, the venue for the games played on November 6 & 7, 2015 in Dubai.

Updated Scoreboard & Soundtrack

Khimsanity brings the updated "2016 Smart Bro PBA Philippine Cup" scoreboard (now smaller in size) for this new update. The soundtrack has also been updateed with the addition of "Liga Ng Mga Bida" by Abra featuring Aya of Project Pinas. It now replaces "Ito Ang Liga" by Sam Concepcion, Ebe Dancel & Gloc-9 as the startup song with "Ito Ang Liga" being moved to a different spot on the jukebox.

Future Updates

Pinoy 2K Modders, the modding team behind PBA 2K14, expects to take a short break after releasing this huge update. We expect to be back with PBA 2K14 v10, which will hopefully feature the 2016 PBA Commissioner's Cup update, the UAAP Season 78 roster update, as well as updating the NCAA Season 91 jerseys (NCAA Season 91 rosters expected to drop in PBA 2K14 v11). With PBA 2K14 v9.1 being released today, Phase Three nears its conclusion as FIBA 2K14 v4.2 is set to be released (with only 2 cyberfaces remaining to be done by the FIBA 2K Team). FIBA 2K14 v4.2 is expected to be hopefully released this weekend. New stuff is set to come around three weeks with new surprises for those who want to be more entertained while they learn more about the mod updates. Hopefully, this surprise will be unveiled very soon.

To enjoy these new updates, please make sure you download the NEW PBA 2K14 Appdata Files, PBA 2K14 Logos & Scoreboards, and PBA 2K14 Optional Files in the Downloads Section. The PBA 2K14 v9.1 Follow Up Pack is located at the bottom of this blog post for the new cyberfaces, jerseys, and stadiums. The PBA 2K14 Main Directory Files 10 has been re-uploaded to include the PBA 2K14 v9.1 Follow Up Pack for those who have not downloaded PBA 2K14 v9.0.
